The mouse over reads, “Hey, what are the odds — five Ayn Rand fans on a train! Must be going to a convention.” And that leads me to this article about the Ayn Rand dating site. You did know there was an Ayn Rand dating site, didn’t you? Oh, it’s like shooting fish in a barrel…but no, I’m really not surprised that any happily coupled person has never heard of the Ayn Rand dating site.

The world is a better place for having xkcd in it. Case in point:
And yes, I’m now contemplating a career change to a marine biologist. Thank you Randall Munroe.

I got a good laugh from this as I’ve recently given up on a forum that I used to enjoy quite a bit. Props for the xkcd reference!

I’m posting this one because, after my brush with my cat’s mortality last week, it put a smile on my face.
And for the xkcd reference, because you know there is one, click here.

This is just to remind myself that being a grown up and deciding what that means isn’t just about loss and rejection, it’s also about bringing joy and happiness into my life.
A friend of mine said that while material things can bring us pleasure, they can’t bring us happiness. 99% of the time, I’d agree with him, but I have an equivalent of xkcd’s fun ball room – my road bike. Being physically active both calms me and leaves me happier, and I’ve met some absolutely fantastic people through cycling. Just thinking back on some of my more epic rides (and the people I did them with!) brings a smile to my face. Insofar as an inanimate object can make one happy, my road bike does.
Do you guys have something like this in your life?

I have a pescetarian roommate who turns several marvelous shades of green whenever I cook bacon, so I don’t. Well, I didn’t, but then she left town for Christmas and I promptly initiated BaconFest2008. Since then, this xkcd graph has become frighteningly relevant.
Now I’ve got one burning question: Will this make it all better?

Whoo-hoo! Thanks to one of my internet friends, I have an entire list of webcomics to peruse. Flaky Pastry was ranked second only to the brilliant xkcd, so I headed to the archives and fell in love right around this strip. (Click to enlarge.)
And just so you all know, don’t mind my maniacal laughter, and don’t schedule any emergencies today. I’m not speaking to anyone until I finish the archives. :)

Since I’ve been giggling about this strip all week, it’s only fair to share.

Xkcd is an uber geeky strip. Lots of fun when the humor isn’t over my head.
